How do I install my cardboard spray booth filter?

It doesn't matter which type of cardboard spray booth filter you are installing into your spray booth as they are all installed in the same way. These are just a couple of easy steps to follow that will ensure a successful installation:

Step 1: Identify the Front and Back of the Filter

Ensure the correct side faces the spray booth and operator. For the Procart B, the white side faces front (toward the sprayer) and the brown side faces back. For fiber-backed Procart models, the cardboard face always points toward the sprayer to act as the primary filter, while the fiber backing faces away (downstream) to capture any remaining particulate.

Step 2: Measure and Cut to Width

Measure the internal width of your spray booth. Cardboard concertina filters require 26 to 32 folds per linear meter for optimal performance. Calculate the required folds by multiplying your booth width in meters by 26–32, then add a couple of extra folds at each end to secure the filter in the frame before cutting.

Step 3: Prep the Retention Frame

Inspect the mounting track or retention frame. Clean away accumulated dust, dried paint, or debris that could impede a tight seal or tear the filter during placement.

Step 4: Insert the Filter into the Frame

Angle the compressed filter slightly to slide one edge into the mounting channel, straighten it out, and gently pull the media across the width of the booth to the opposite channel. Lock both ends securely into the frame retainers.

Step 5: Adjust Pleat Spacing

Step back to visually inspect the face of the filter. Gently adjust any bunched sections along the track to ensure pleats are evenly distributed across the entire span, guaranteeing balanced airflow and maximum holding capacity.
